The piano.

There are often elements in your room that are difficult to work around when you are trying to decorate.  One of these being the piano.  We would love to get a piano, but struggle with the idea of having it in our main living area.  We also realize that this is the best place for it because... how does the saying go?  "Out of sight, out of mind".

So, I did a little research on ways to incorporate the piano into your decorating style and came up with these fabulous options!

Contrast

I'm not sure that I can describe my design style in one word.  But what I can tell you is that I love CONTRAST in my designs.  Especially a dark vs light colour palette.  It brings energy to the room.

This picture of a dining room designed by Haus Interiors is perfection to me. It caught my eye instantly.  I love the artwork, furniture and dark floors against the white walls....and the touch of gold and fur completes it.

Friday Favourites

Happy Friday!  We made it through the first week of January...Yay!  I have pulled together a few items for the entryway today in my favourites list.  I love the combination of greys and blues with a touch of light wood.  Let me know what you think.

Resolutions for my home.

I am a huge believer of New Year's resolutions.  There is something about setting goals for the year that makes me giddy. I will admit that most of them are usually related to health and wellness, but I always have a few that are specific to the design and organization of my home.

My most favourite resolution (all year long) is to EDIT!!!  Declutter my home, room by room.  If there is a drawer or closet that has items that havn't been touched for the past year...I donate them.  A clear, edited home brings calmness. Ohm.

Buy less, but Buy better.  Refrain from buying that 10th throw pillow because it is on sale.  Save up and get that one pillow that will make a statement....made of quality fabric and beautiful down feathers.

Decide on SPECIFIC PROJECTS that I want to finish by the end of the year.  Design a gallery wall of family photos in my family room.  Create a cozy reading nook in the corner of my bedroom. Or add touches of gold accents to the living room.

And when I'm done....I'll place a BIG CHECK MARK  next to my goal.  Isn't that's the best feeling!
